I've download the web installer but failed to get it to work.

Here is the directory I uploaded to. When I start the installer is just hangs.

It seems to have created a directory called source but it is empty.

Sounds like cURL/fopen might be disabled...any idea? We'll be adding a
more robust check in future versions of the installer.

My host seems to use a service called Fantastico DeLuxe to automatically install scripts, CMS, blogs, etc. Installing any script will use one of your available MySQL databases. Removing any script will free up one of your used MySQL databases.

    What are my other options?

Ah they go automated only. Our installer might work — it
uses something called a SQLite database to start. That's just a single-
file database, not robust like the kind of database server they're
talking about. It's not ideal for high traffic but it's quick enough
to run our demo sites and whatnot.

We're also talking about throwing together an install bundle that
should work a little better for more restrictive situations as we make
    enhancements to the web installer...
