I have been able to connect with the same credentials using a plain mysql CLI, but dev_installer gives me the 'oh shit' message. Can you guys tell me what I should check?

    Wow!! It seems that the system will only accept lowercase alphanumerics as a password. My problem was that I had a few caps thrown in.

    Weird. Definitely not by design. I'll look into it and open a ticket...

    The stacktrace showed the password in all lowercase, so I changed the password to reflect what the stacktrace showed and it worked. Now, trying to get the nginx server to do the right rewrite. :-)

    I'm betting good money that's my boneheaded mistake. We do a trim
    +lowercase on the email for validation and I bet I cruise-controlled
    that same function onto the password. Dumb mistake — sorry!

    And please let me know how the rewrite goes — we've got a ticket open
    on that one...something tells me the final rewrite solution won't come
    from me. Ha.

    thanks for reporting it!

    No prob. If writing software were easy, we wouldn't get paid the big bucks...

    That was a joke BTW.

    Hey this is at least partially useful for rewrite.

    I have ruby on rails on an nginx server with some php support for a Wordpress blog and soon cashmusic for a blues guitarist friend. When I get everything up, I'd like to send you guys a link.

    if (!-e $request_filename){
    set $rule_0 1$rule_0; } if ($request_filename !~ "-l"){
    set $rule_0 2$rule_0; } if ($args !~ "(.+)"){
    set $rule_0 3$rule_0; } if ($rule_0 = "321"){
    rewrite /(.*) /controller.php?p=$1 last; } if (!-e $request_filename){
    set $rule_1 1$rule_1; } if ($request_filename !~ "-l"){
    set $rule_1 2$rule_1; } if ($args ~ "(.+)"){
    set $rule_1 3$rule_1; set $bref_1 $1; } if ($rule_1 = "321"){
    rewrite /([?]+) /controller.php?p=$1&$bref_1 last; }
